Choose Sex
I was excited about the internet when most people didn’t know what it was. My friends thought I was weird to be so thrilled with something so intangible – what did it really do anyway?
Fast forward many year and it turns out that the internet ‘does’ alot for us. According to a new study by Intel 46 percent of women and 30 percent of men would opt to forgo sex for two weeks rather than give up access to their precious Internet for the same period.
My husband and I both work out of home offices, and our internet service is crucial for us to do our jobs. Nevertheless, I can’t imagine making such a choice. The survey was not including job dependent use, but personal use. In other words these people would rather play games, read gossip, shop, and look around than have an in-person sexual encounter.
The only reasons I can imagine thatĀ 46 percent of women and 30 percent of men would forgo sex for their internet connection is that they areĀ just not having sex that often or the sex they do have is really lousy, or the ‘big one’, that they have just GIVEN UP.
People are always complaining about their relationship issues, including a lack of sex – but how much effort are they willing to put into it? Sure it’s easier to tune out the lacking partner or the lack of a partner and just hook up with your laptop, but will it give what you really crave?
My experience online shows that most people want to be connected to a person who really values them and that people search for ways to improve their relationships, find a relationship, or make themselves more desirable for a potential relationship.
I believe the ability to connect humans is one of the most incredible uses for the internet, but the medium itself should never be confused with the actual relationship.
Come on people, choose sex or at least the potential for sex.
